Charnel Oubliette offers a depth of the atmosphere achieved with relative minimalism. The low pads provide a constant, bleak framework upon which haunting leads drag the listener down into the dark. One of the things I admire most about these tracks is the Keeper’s restraint and patience in composition. He allows his tracks to develop at an organic pace yet does not belabor them unnecessarily. This droning bleakness provides the perfect backdrop for some truly powerful moments on the album. Isengrim
